Cake makes everything better.

Chloe’s 1st Birthday January 9, 2012

The 1st cake of 2012. It’s been a busy 1st week of the new year, with the girls getting settled into the new academic year. My respite from all that” busyness” was creating the figurines for Chloe’s cake. Wanted to try out a new look, to make the figurines more adorable and cute. To me ,it is all in the eyes. The eyes truly make or break the overall look of the figurine. Anyway, pretty happy with how they turned out.

Worked with one of the loveliest couples, Vincent+ Sharon, easy-going and generous with their kind ,kind comments, I was on cloud nine the whole time I was working on this cake for their little one Chloe. It was a pleasure creating this cake.

Christmas is my all time favourite season of the year. The whole extended family gathers together to share food and much (drunken) laughter. So to cap off this 2011 year of cakes, I made a …..what else could it be but a Babushka Christmas cake(complete with a woollen scarf.

The inspiration for my next couple of cakes is the Russian Babushka Doll. My sister had one when we were kids and I loved to open them up till I got to the smallest one.

Here again I ‘ve moved away from figurine work towards a more design based on.

For this cake I wanted to try something new, to move away from figurine work towards more design based work. Created this cake for my friend of over 20 years. She loves white so I wanted to create an all white cake for her.

Nightmare Before Christmas Cake June 17, 2011

My latest creation. As I’m also a Tim Burton fan, collecting all his movie DVDs , I was really excited to create this cake. Watched the movie DVD countless times to get inspiration for the design of the cake. Decided on a pumpkin shaped cake, afterall Jack Skellington is the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town. What is a creepy cake without a creepy tree with snarly finger-like branches… so included a creepy tree ( totally edible ,made of rice krispy treats) with the Killer Wreath, one of Jack’s not so successful attempts at spreading the Christmas cheer!
